Greetings ~

I was born and raised in the 1950s and '60s. Rock & Roll back then was my world. In 1965 until 1969, I was in three rock bands as the drummer. I managed two other bands as well. I owned three drum sets and all of the guitars, amps, recording equipment, etc. So, to say the least, I had an interest in rock music.
At the time, the Beatles was number one on the circuit. The British may have lost the Revolutionary War but 200 years later they mounted another invasion on America. This time it was in the music world and, I believe they just may have won this time around.

Some of the best rock music of that time came out of England. And there was one rock group that helped a lot in that respect. The Dave Clark Five. My favorite bands of the day were the Beatles, the Dave Clark Five and the Rolling Stones. These three bands were the highlight of the music world for me during the 1960s.
The bands that I belonged to specialized in music by the Rolling Stones. But we performed a lot of DC5 music also. And we were doggoned good at it. Back then no one worried about licensing and trademarks and ownership and copywrite laws. We just did the songs and that was that. No big bands or singers came after us. Not like today.
The Dave Clark Five did not go with the other bands when they turned dark in the '60s with the drugs and beards and all that crap. The DC5 was a clean-cut group and stayed that way. This was a time when rock bands, for the most part, wore suits on stage and matching outfits. The hair was long but neatly kept. And these guys washed it too.
I have a lot of fond memories of those times and the Dave Clark Five is one of those memories. They were the only group that rivaled the Beatles. It's sad that they are not remembered all that highly today. So, on this blog, we remember the Dave Clark Five and the contribution that they gave to the rock music world. Out of the original five members of the band, three have since died at this writing. Dave Clark himself is still kicking around. I think that I was such a fan because Dave Clark was a drummer and so was I. But, for whatever reason, the DC5 was just an outstanding band for their time and I believe that younger generations should come to know them and their music for what it was. I dedicate this blog to Dave Clark and his bandmates. May their music live on forever.
